just the right amount
Lagom is a Swedish idea: just the right amount. We came across the word while building Lagomics at MIT Engine Blueprint.
It captures how we think about molecular design: precise, efficient, nothing wasted.
Design exactly the molecule the biology calls for.
Validate it with exactly the data the partner needs.
Ship it.

Our founding team built two multi-million dollar genomic engineering systems, scaling complex cell culture and transfection workflows from manual bench protocols to fully automated production lines handling thousands of samples per run. That experience taught us what it actually takes to turn engineered biology into manufactured products: not just clever algorithms, but measurement systems that keep up with the speed of computational design.
At Lagomics, we pointed that operational DNA at a different problem: what if you could design a functional protein from scratch against a biological target, validate it experimentally, and advance it toward product in weeks instead of years? That's what we built. A generative design engine paired with experimental validation, turning novel AI-designed sequences into molecules we take to market.
We are backed by the Activate Fellowship, MIT Engine, and NVIDIA, and operate out of MBC BioLabs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
